What the data says

Tracked iMac configurations have been available in an average of 57% of checked stores across 42 recorded scans. Availability is uneven by configuration, so the family average matters less than the row you care about.

Percentages are shares of the stores a scan actually reached, not of all 269 U.S. stores, so a partial scan does not distort them.

iMac pickup FAQ

Questions worth answering before you drive over

Can I walk into an Apple Store and buy an iMac today?

Only if a store near you is holding one. Enter your ZIP code above to see which nearby stores currently report same-day pickup for a tracked iMac configuration, then continue to Apple to reserve it. Apple confirms the final availability at checkout.

How current are these numbers?

Every count on this page comes from the most recently finished nationwide scan of Apple's public pickup data, which runs throughout the day. A scan that is still in progress is never published, so the figures never dip just because a sweep is halfway through the store directory.

Why do two stores in the same city show different answers?

Apple allocates stock per store, not per city. A configuration can be ready for pickup at one location and unavailable at another a few miles away, which is why the ZIP lookup lists stores individually instead of giving a single citywide verdict.

What should I do if no iMac is in stock near me?

Open any configuration listed above: each one names the nearest cities that do have it in stock. You can also widen the ZIP search or set a stock alert so you hear about the next time a store reports pickup. Ordering from Apple for delivery stays available even when pickup does not.

What is the difference between the two-port and four-port iMac?

The $1,499 two-port model uses an 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU; the $1,699 four-port model steps up to 10 cores of each and adds two more Thunderbolt ports plus Gigabit Ethernet. Both are tracked here, and the four-port version is the one stores more often keep on hand for demos.

Does the color I want change what is in stock?

It can. Apple sells the iMac in seven colors but stores carry a subset, and each color is a separate part number. The counts on this page follow a specific tracked configuration, so a store showing pickup may still have it in a different finish than the one you had in mind.

How MacSpotter measures stock

A shared nationwide scan—not a request for every visitor.

MacSpotter checks Apple’s public pickup response in staggered geographic batches, merges overlapping store results, and saves one observation per store and product in each nationwide sweep. This page reads those saved snapshots; the ZIP lookup above is the only part that asks Apple something new. Availability is confirmed only by Apple at checkout.
